2021 Pinot Noir Pommard Clone –
Tasting Notes
Pinot Noir crafted solely from the Pommard clone grown on the lower portion of the vineyard where the soil is comprised of limon, sand & clay. The site and soil deliver a stimulating and structured Pinot Noir. The nose offers aromas of sour cherry and cassis with a hint of white pepper. The flavors fill your tastes buds will bright red fruits and local blackberries. Well balanced tannins and lingering flavors deliver nuances with each sip. A beautiful expression of our estate that will age for another 5-10 years.
Winemaking
After de-stemming, the Pinot Noir grapes (100% Pommard) are transferred into stainless steel vats for an initial cold soak. When the fermentation starts the wine undergoes methodical aeration at moderate temperatures in order to extract soft tannin and color. Finally when mouthfeel objectives are reached the grapes are gently pressed and barreled down in French oak. Aged for 10 months in 25% new oak.
Vineyard
South facing, our Southern Oregon Vineyard Estate is located at the northern end of the Rogue Valley. With elevations ranging from 700 to 1800 feet, the primarily ancient volcanic and alluvial fan soils provide well drained, nutrient rich soils which are ideal for growing premium wine grapes.
Food Pairing
This Pinot Noir is a classic example of what grows together goes together. The Northwest is also known for Truffles, and not the chocolate type, but the beautiful subterranean delicacy. When your dish deserves a shaving of truffle on top, your glass will love the Pommard. Leaning into mushroom, try a chanterelle covered pork tenderloin.
