GOLD HILL, OR – April 1, 2024 – In a bold and unexpected leadership shift, Del Rio Vineyards is proud to announce the appointment of its newest CEO—Canine Executive Officer, Teddy. A highly experienced Australian Shepherd with years of vineyard oversight under his collar, Teddy has officially taken charge of daily operations, marking a new era for the Southern Oregon winery.
Teddy, a longtime vineyard resident, is known for his hands-on (or rather, paws-on) leadership style, which includes conducting daily vineyard inspections, enforcing rigorous treat distribution policies, and boosting employee morale through mandatory petting breaks. Under his guidance, Del Rio is expected to shift focus from traditional winemaking to an even more dog-friendly approach, though the human team is working diligently to keep the wine-side of the business on track.
"I have been the real leader of Del Rio Vineyards for years, so it’s about time my title reflected my influence," Teddy stated in a rare press appearance before chasing a bird out of the vineyard. "Wine is fine, but have you ever experienced the pure joy of a belly rub?"
Despite concerns about his preference for naps over board meetings, Teddy has already implemented several key initiatives, including:
- Expanded outdoor exploration time (for himself, primarily).
- A new “Treat First” policy to incentivize productivity.
- Vineyard security enhancements, focusing on squirrel patrol and rabbit deterrence.
While some may question the wisdom of handing over the winery to a dog, Del Rio Vineyards remains confident that Teddy’s charm, leadership instincts, and boundless energy will keep the vineyard thriving—just as long as someone else handles the spreadsheets.
