Beautiful charcuterie boards are not only beautiful, but delicious and go wonderfully with the Syrah Port. A star cheese pairing is traditional blue cheese, we are partial to the Rogue Creamery’s Smoky Blue. We can’t resist a dessert pairing either; savor every sip with a warm slice of dark chocolate cake.
This elegant wine displays a dark, rich crimson color and when opened unveils aromas of cherry, pastries and sappy wood. This port boasts a rich and generous flavor profile packed with blackberry and raspberry flavors as well as hints of cinnamon and dark chocolate. Fruit forward with a youthful freshness, this wine shows soft tannins and notes of fresh tobacco.
South facing, our Southern Oregon vineyard estate is located at the northern end of the Rogue Valley. With elevations ranging from 700 to 1800 feet, the primarily ancient volcanic and alluvial fan soils provide well drained, nutrient rich soils which are ideal for growing premium wine grapes.
Our Ruby style Port is 100% Syrah, fortified with brandy. The beautiful thing with port is that we take our time. After de-stemming, the Syrah grapes are lightly crushed into stainless steel vats. When the fermentation starts, the wine undergoes methodical aeration at moderate temperatures to extract soft tannin and color. Towards the end of the maceration the pump over work is limited to nonexistent. Finally, when mouthfeel objective and ideal sugar level is reached, the brandy is added and then together the grapes are gently pressed and barreled down. The wine is aged for six years, with four years in neutral French oak barrels and another two years in the bottle before our initial release.
